I will admit that I wasn't immediately intrigued (it took about 2 chapters for me to get really hooked) but once I was I read this bad boy in one sitting. I also love verse novels and gritty YA. The fabulous Martine Leavitt, author of several great books, including National Book Award finalist Keturah and Lord Death. Keturah & Lord Death by Martine Leavitt Published in 2006. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic about this. If you like romance, you should enjoy this book. In Keturah and Lord Death, Martine Leavitt seamlessly weaves a living, feeling grim reaper into an engrossing historical landscape. But just to put it right out there — Leavitt's latest is nothing like Keturah and Lord Death, with its mythopoeic elements and historical/fantastical setting. (5/5) Every time a reader picks up a book, they are silently asking, won't you tell me a story? I had high expectations because I have enjoyed Leavitt's earlier work, especially Keturah and Lord Death. Keturah is an ordinary girl of her time, dreaming of love and a family of her own. I just finished reading Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt.
